The Association of Moving Image Archivists (AMIA) presented the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) with its inaugural Keystone Award last week, during the AMIA Annual Conference, which was held in Portland, Oregon.

The award was created to honor the important role the Academy has played in supporting the work of moving image preservation around the world, and recognizes AMPAS as an integral collaborator with AMIA in developing programs for the global community of preservationists and film archivists.

“AMIA is indebted to the Academy, and it is with our deepest gratitude that we present the inaugural Keystone Award to them,” said AMIA president Caroline Frick. “We believe it is important to recognize the people and institutions which have proven instrumental to AMIA’s development as an organization. AMPAS has been a long-time, vital partner in our growth, and remains focused with us in sustaining the professional members of the moving image field and their ongoing work to preserve our cultural heritage.”
