Deluxe Launches Dedicated VR Services Unit

-

LR-DeluxeVR_Jet3Deluxe Entertainment Services Group announced the launch of Deluxe VR, a new dedicated virtual reality (VR) creative services unit in Los Angeles. Deluxe VR will offer end-to-end production and postproduction services for clients creating immersive content for entertainment, promotional and enterprise applications. The team will showcase several VR projects and service capabilities at Deluxe’s booth #SU4414 at NAB 2016, April 18-21 in Las Vegas, NV.

“The way audiences and enterprises can experience media is evolving, and we have evolved our approach to production and post so that clients can create whatever they envision,” said Deluxe CEO John Wallace. “We’ve invested heavily in laying a strong technical foundation for our proprietary VR workflows and in building a dedicated VR team, with the ability to leverage the artistic and technical talent of Deluxe companies worldwide, to handle projects of any complexity and scale.”

LR-DeluxeVR_Reco1Deluxe VR will offer end-to-end and a-la-carte VR production and postproduction services across all VR platforms, including creating real-time and pre-rendered CG content as well as 360° live-action video. In addition to the dedicated team, Deluxe VR will leverage the talent of more than 3,000 artists worldwide across Deluxe studios, including Company 3, Method Studios, StereoD, Rushes and Iloura.

Entertainment industry veteran Malte Wagener, who has moved from his VP role at Method Studios and Company 3, will lead Deluxe VR, with long-time VFX R&D director Peter Shipkov heading engineering and PJ Nachman leading business development efforts for the company.

In March, Nokia announced a postproduction partnership with Deluxe and Deluxe VR to provide technical consultation, editorial, VFX, color and stitching services for immersive content created with its OZO VR camera system.

At NAB, Deluxe VR will debut two new VR experiences that demonstrate the possibilities and impact of VR across storytelling, education, communication and commerce. NAB attendees can experience an interactive product demo that introduces participants to all aspects of an F14 fighter jet, exploring detailed 3D models of the jet’s operating and weapons systems, firing its rocket payload, and viewing both virtual and live-action versions of the plane’s tactical maneuvering capabilities. The company will also showcase “Reco” an interactive story of some curious robot aliens that literally pulls the viewer into their world.
