LEVA Invites Public to Free CCTV Seminar at Annual Conference

-

For the first time, the Law Enforcement and Emergency Services Video Association (LEVA) will host a free CCTV seminar for homeowners and business owners during the 2016 LEVA Digital Multimedia Evidence Training Symposium. The seminar, “Surveillance Video is to Protect and Prevent: What is Your CCTV Missing?” will be held Tuesday, Nov. 15, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Hilton Doubletree Paradise Valley in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Hosted by certified LEVA experts, the seminar will explore best practices for video surveillance systems. It will discuss resolution, lighting, camera placement, storage, and other important topics to help CCTV system owners and potential owners get the most out of their security investment. Attendees also get complimentary access to the LEVA exhibit floor.

“A growing number of businesses and private homes have CCTV systems, but many of these systems fail to deliver the performance that owners expect or provide the evidence that law enforcement needs,” explained Jan Garvin, LEVA executive director. “Our experts will make it easier for non-technical attendees to understand and implement best practices for CCTV systems for their homes and businesses. This is LEVA’s first community outreach effort during one our conferences, and we think it’s going to be a very valuable opportunity for the residents of Scottsdale, Phoenix, and other surrounding cities.”

The CCTV seminar is free, but seating is limited and attendees must register here. A buffet lunch will be available for $5 and can be paid for on site at the LEVA Registration Desk.

For law enforcement video professionals, LEVA’s 27th annual training conference runs Nov. 14-18, and will include an assortment of seminars and hands-on workshops. Each conference session earns attendee hours for LEVA certification. This year’s topics include forensic video workflow, courtroom testimony for forensic video analysts, and body-worn camera and dashcam presentation techniques. Some sessions have limited availability and pre-registration is required. For conference schedule and pricing options, as well as hotel and travel information, visit leva.org.
