ASC Awards
American Society of Cinematographers

10/21/20 9:26 AM:  The American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) has announced key dates for its 35th annual ASC Awards for cinematography. Like many other awards groups, the ASC’s awards have been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and they will be streamed live from the ASC Clubhouse in Hollywood on April 18, 2021, “with plans for a simultaneous in-person component to be determined at a later date.”

Some of the key dates begin this week with the call for television entries that are due by January 8 at 5pm PST in four specific categories:

  • Episode of a One-Hour Television Series – Commercial
  • Episode of a One-Hour Television Series – Non-Commercial
  • Episode of a Half-Hour Television Series
  • Motion Picture, Limited Series, or Pilot Made for TV

Shows must have a premiere date in the United States between October 1, 2019, and December 31, 2020.

The submissions for Student Award entries begin on November 16 through December 1 with those nominations announced on January 12, 2021. The feature film and spotlight awards will be for films released before February 28, 2021 (as is the case with the Academy Awards) with the nomination polls closing on March 5 with theatrical and television nominations announced March 9.
