Company 3 and Trix Launch Helsinki Virtual Outpost

February 22, 2012 | By Staff

Santa Monica-based post house Company 3 has partnered with Helsinki-based post facility Trix to provide commercial clients in Helsinki access to the color grading services of Company 3′s worldwide network of facilities. Like its 16 other outposts, this “virtual outpost” will allow clients working out of the Trix facility to collaborate with Company 3 artists based in Santa Monica, New York, Atlanta or London.

“Helsinki is a hotbed of creativity that we’re glad to be a part of,” said Company 3 founder and president Stefan Sonnenfeld. “We’re excited to introduce our artists and services to the burgeoning markets in the Baltics, Russia and Sweden.”

The outpost is set up to ensure perfect calibration of displays in the two locations so that everyone at both facilities sees exactly the same images and image refinements. This offers new collaborative postproduction opportunities that once might have required a prohibitive travel budget.

“Geographic location is no longer a roadblock to having the best talent working on your projects,” said Trix CFO/producer Aleksis Pillai. “Our clients can now easily collaborate with Company 3′s gifted colorists. This type of access will shrink the world and revolutionize the way we do business.”
