Cospective’s cineSync Pro 3.3 Integrates Aspera High Speed File Transfer Technology

LR-1Screen Shot 2013-08-19 at 12.42.48 PMCospective has integrated Aspera‘s file transfer technology into its cineSync video review software. With cineSync 3.3, users with an Aspera server and a cineSync Pro account can make high-speed file transfers from within the cineSync interface. This makes reviewing large files in cineSync faster and easier, while maintaining security. The Australian company, which changed its name from Rising Sun Research last summer, won a 2010 Academy scientific and technical award for its cineSync system.

CineSync is a remote review platform that allows multiple users to review and annotate video clips in sync from anywhere in the world. Its drawing tools allow participants in a session to draw right on the image, as well as sharing written notes with others.

Aspera’s fasp transport eliminates the bottlenecks of conventional file transfer technologies such as FTP and HTTP and speeds transfers over public and private IP networks.

LR-2Screen Shot 2013-08-19 at 12.38.04 PM copy“Using standard, unmodified IP networking, fasp achieves practically ideal throughput efficiency and is the industry standard for fast, reliable transfers,” said Neil Wilson, head of engineering at Cospective. “We have been able to seamlessly integrate fasp-based file transfers into cineSync’s existing file transfer framework using the comprehensive Aspera SDKs.”

With Aspera software, file transfer times can be guaranteed, regardless of the distance between end-points or the dynamic conditions of the network, including transfers over satellite, wireless and inherently long distance and unreliable international links. Built-in security includes secure endpoint authentication, on-the-fly data encryption and integrity verification. Content is not transferred through cineSync servers, but sent through users’ own servers.

Guests joining a cineSync Pro session are automatically granted an Aspera license for the duration of the session. There is no requirement for them to purchase a separate one. This means that files for review can be uploaded through cineSync using Aspera. Guests invited to the session can download the files directly from the cineSync interface, with the same ease, speed and security. The process is transparent, requiring nothing more than clicking the download button.

“Aspera’s file transfer technology is second to none, and we’re very excited to be able to offer Aspera transfers within cineSync,” said Rory McGregor, CEO of Cospective. “This is a fantastic integration for our customers.”
