Light Iron Introduces New Mobile Post Production Systems

-

Light Iron – a Hollywood-based post house specializing in on-site dailies, digital intermediate, archival and data services for projects originated on file-based motion cameras – announced that its mobile postproduction systems will now be available through a unique distribution channel called OUTPOST Enterprise. OUTPOST Enterprise is a membership program whereby companies or individuals providing services to the production industry are equipped to offer Light Iron’s OUTPOST, LILY PAD or LILY PAD CASE.

Upon joining OUTPOST Enterprise, members take possession of a mobile system for minimal up-front costs. Afterward, they only pay for the days a system is used. Light Iron bills a predetermined rate to members, who can set their own rates to clients in order to create and grow new revenue opportunities.

“We believe the file-based world of content creation minimizes the dependence on traditional brick-and-mortar processing facilities,” said Light Iron CEO Michael Cioni. “OUTPOST Enterprise empowers members such as rental houses, stages, production companies, post facilities, and DITs to offer state-of-the art postproduction services, totally on their own.”

Whether members choose the lightweight LILY PAD CASE, the LILY PAD cart, or the OUTPOST cart, they will be able to support a variety of postproduction services for nearly every file-based camera. The base systems support all HD motion picture cameras, and specific processing packages are customized for cameras with 2K resolution and higher such as the Arri Alexa, Sony’s F65 or the RED Epic.

Key services that the OUTPOST Enterprise mobile systems provide include: checksums of all data transfers; downloads over eSata or SAS; high-speed raid storage; CDL color correction; tactile surface integration; SDI video monitoring; ACES color space monitoring and management; automated and manual audio syncing; geometry, scaling, de-squeezing and aspect ratio adjustments; customizable window burn configurations; customizable watermarking; rendering of DNxHD, ProRes, H.264, DPX, EXR and TIFF; wireless iPad dailies syncing; scene and take metadata entry; ALE editing; data reporting, and disk cataloging.

Light Iron provides free training and workflow consultation to OUTPOST Enterprise members. Members will have access to a private web site with video tutorials, a discussion forum, and 24-hour technical support. Light Iron will be exhibiting its mobile systems at this weekend’s Cine Gear Expo at Paramount Studios, (Booth S331).
