The Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild (MUAHS, IATSE Local 706) held the 6th Annual MUAHS Awards at the NOVO by Microsoft at L.A. Live Downtown on February 16, 2019. Winners of the awards were announced at the formal gala in 23 categories of film, television, commercials and live theater with more than 900 people in attendance, including guild members, industry executives and press.

Actress and comedienne Loni Love (The Real) served as host for the fourth year in a row. TV personality, actor and singer Frankie J. Grande returned as star host of the “Live From the Red Carpet,” presented by HASK® Beauty. Julie Socash, newly installed MUAHS President, and Randy Sayer, Business Representative, presided over the awards ceremony. Returning again as producer of this year’s MUAHS Awards was Erick Weiss of Honeysweet Creative.

Academy Award-nominated and two time Primetime Emmy-winning actress Melissa McCarthy (Can You Ever Forgive Me?) received the MUAHS Distinguished Artisan Award which was presented by hair stylist Linda Flowers. McCarthy is the first female artist to receive this prestigious award. Sue Cabral-Ebert, local 706 President and award-winning make-up artist, was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award for Make-up by longtime friend and actress Linda Grey (Dallas). Emmy-winning hair stylist Robert Louis Stevenson received a Lifetime Achievement Award for Hair Styling from Margaret Avery, Stevenson’s hair stylist on The Color Purple and The Jackson’s: An American Dream.
