LR-FoxLogoLargeTwentieth Century Fox Studio has announced that their post-production mixing stages have upgraded and expanded their capabilities beyond Dolby ATMOS, Auro, and DTS:X formats and are now mixing in IMAX 5.0 and 12.0

The Howard Hawks and John Ford stages each contain 70 theatrical speakers, comprised of JBL/BMS custom screen channels, Meyer Sound Surround channels, and BGW/Meyer Sound Subwoofer systems.

The stages can be quickly reconfigured to each clients’ mixing and monitoring requirements by providing any of thousands of combinations for source channels and the various Atmos, Auro, DTS:X, and IMAX monitoring formats. In addition to monitoring upgrades, all AMS consoles have been upgraded to AMS Neve DFC 3D.

LR-FoxStudioSound“The flexible mixing platforms of Neve, Harrison, and Avid Pro Tools Consoles available within the facility enable deliverables of all formats to be handled with ease,” remarked re-recording mixer Paul Massey.

The ability to mix in the IMAX format has allowed a spate of recent IMAX releases to be mixed at Fox, including Jack Reacher, Deadpool, X-Men: Apocalypse, La La Land, Logan, and the recent Pirates of the Caribbean installment. The Ford Theatre was also utilized to mix the score for IMAX’s very own space station film A Beautiful Planet, with composers Micky Erbe and Maribeth Solomon.
