The Sopranos actress Kathrine Narducci has joined the cast of the acclaimed HBO series Euphoria, Below the Line has learned.

The Zendaya-led series returns on Jan. 9 and co-stars Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney and Storm Reid. Season 1 ended way back on Aug. 4, 2019, and production on Season 2 was long-delayed due to the pandemic. In the interim, HBO released two special episodes of the show, one of which starred Colman Domingo as Zendaya’s sponsor and mentor.

Below the Line was not provided with screeners for Season 2 of Euphoria, so we don’t have any details of Narducci’s scene-stealing role, but it’s said to be unlike anything the actress has done before and a standout of the new season.

Euphoria hails from Sam Levinson, who executive produces alongside DrakeFuture the Prince, Kevin Turen, Ravi Nandan, Tmira Yardeni, Hadas Mozes Lichtenstein, Mirit Toovi, Yoram Mokadi and Gary Lennon, as well as Ron Leshem and Daphna Levin, who created the original Israeli series Hot that inspired the show. Augustine Frizzell directed the Euphoria pilot and serves as a co-executive producer on the series, which is produced by A24 Television.

Best known for playing Charmaine Bucco on The Sopranos, Narducci has been on a roll of late, having recently played Robert De Niro‘s wife in Martin Scorsese‘s Oscar-nominated Netflix movie The Irishman. She previously worked with De Niro on A Bronx Tale and HBO’s Bernie Madoff movie The Wizard of Lies. Narducci also played Frankie Valli‘s mother in Clint Eastwood‘s musical Jersey Boys, and she recently shared the screen with Hugh Jackman and Tom Hardy in Bad Education and Capone, respectively. That’s an impressive list of collaborators for the veteran character actress.

On the TV side, Narducci starred in Godfather of Harlem and the hit Starz series Power. She’s represented by Brillstein Entertainment Partners. Watch the trailer for Season 2 of Euphoria below.
