Academy Unveils Key Dates for 2023 Oscar Season; Ceremony to Stay in March

The Academy and ABC have announced that next year’s Oscars ceremony will take place on March 12, 2023 — two weeks earlier than this year’s show, which was held on March 27.

The 95th Annual Academy Awards will air live on ABC in over 200 territories worldwide from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. The eligibility period will end on Dec. 31, though the submission deadline for general entry categories is Nov. 15, with preliminary voting starting Dec. 12 and shortlists announced on Dec. 21.

Oscar nomination voting will take place between Jan. 12 and Jan. 17, 2023, and the Academy will unveil the nominations on Jan. 24, with final voting taking place between March 2 and March 7, 2023.

General entry categories submission deadline: Tuesday, November 15, 2022

Governors Awards: Saturday, November 19, 2022

Preliminary voting begins: Monday, December 12, 2022 at 9 a.m. PT

Preliminary voting ends: Thursday, December 15, 2022 at  5 p.m. PT

Oscar Shortlists Announcement: Wednesday, December 21, 2022

Eligibility period ends: Saturday, December 31, 2022

Nominations voting begins: Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 9 a.m. PT

Nominations voting ends: Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at 5 p.m. PT

Oscar Nominations Announcement: Tuesday, January 24, 2023

Oscar Nominees Luncheon: Monday, February 13, 2023

Finals voting begins: Thursday, March 2, 2023 at 9 a.m. PT

Finals voting ends: Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at 5 p.m. PT
