The cast and crew of Station Eleven found themselves nominated for seven Emmys on Tuesday and promptly sent written statements to Below the Line with their giddy reactions to the news.

Station Eleven follows the survivors of a deadly flu that wipes out most of the world’s population, and it really captures the humanity of such a terrifying situation. The series is currently streaming on HBO Max and is well worth a watch.

Editors David Eisenberg and Anna Hauger each weighed in their thoughts on their nominations, as did composer Dan Romer and Sound Supervisor Bradley North. Writer/creator (and showrunner/EP) Patrick Somerville also offered a few words along with his leading man Himesh Patel. You can find their reactions below:

David Eisenberg, Editor, “Unbroken Circle”Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing For A Limited Or Anthology Series Or Movie:

“I could not be more proud of this team and this show. It was truly an amazing experience to make this with some of my favorite people in the world. Thanks to the Academy for recognizing us and all the hard work!”

Anna Hauger, ACE, Editor, “Unbroken Circle”Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie:

Station Eleven is a show about finding joy and connection through art in the dark aftermath of a pandemic. I got to experience my own version of that while working in my remote cutting room. I loved this show and all the people who worked so hard to create it. It was an honor to be part of this team. Thanks so much to the Academy for this recognition.”

Bradley North, MPSE, Sound Supervisor, “Wheel of Fire”Outstanding Sound Editing for a Limited or Anthology Series, Movie or Special:

Working on Station Eleven was such an incredible experience, and I am so grateful for the opportunity. Congratulations to the entire Station Eleven team.”

Dan Romer, Composer, “Unbroken Circle” – Outstanding Music Composition for a Limited or Anthology Series, Movie or Special (Original Dramatic Score):

“I just woke up and saw the news, I’m overwhelmed! Station Eleven was such an intensely personal and at the same time incredibly collaborative project, our whole family put their entire hearts into the show. I’m so grateful and ecstatic for everyone on the team who was recognized, it’s a huge honor. Thanks so much to the Television Academy, everyone at Paramount and HBO Max, my team, and everyone who worked on the show, especially our fearless leader, Patrick Somerville.”

Patrick Somerville, Writer (and Creator/Showrunner/Executive Producer), “Unbroken Circle” – Outstanding Writing For A Limited Or Anthology Series Or Movie:

“It was an emotional journey to make Station Eleven, a show about a pandemic, before and during a pandemic. This morning, I’m overjoyed and grateful for the recognition of our show from the Television Academy, and full of pride for our entire cast and crew. It took an incredible collaboration of special humans to make Station Eleven, and the individual nominations we received, to me, just reflect the work of hundreds of brilliant minds. I’m so grateful to everyone who took risks with us and gave their hearts, ideas, and talents… to tell a story that felt meaningful. Fuck Jerry Mercer!”

Himesh Patel – Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Anthology Series or Movie:

“Making a show about the survivors of a pandemic, as a very real pandemic unfolded around us, was such a roll of the dice. But at its core, our story celebrated the beauty of human connection — and I’m thrilled that it’s resonated with so many people. It was my privilege to play Jeevan and I’m honored to be nominated alongside such iconic actors. Thank You to the TV Academy and to my Station Eleven family.”
