Car Crash on Netflix Series The Chosen One Leaves Two Actors Dead, Multiple Crew Members Hurt

A car crash involving cast and crew from the Netflix series The Chosen One has left two actors dead and at least six other members of the production injured, according to multiple reports.

Local media reported that the Chosen One staffers were riding in a van when it ran off the road and flipped in a desert area. Raymundo Garduño Cruz and Juan Francisco González Aguilar sustained fatal injuries in the accident, it was announced Friday by the Baja California Department of Culture. The Netflix series was being produced by an independent production company in nearby Santa Rosalia, and it’s unclear whether the production will move forward following the deadly incident. The show had been filming since April. The Chosen One follows a 12-year-old boy who discovers that he is Jesus Christ, who has returned to save humankind. It’s based on the comic book series American Jesus from writer Mark Millar and artist Peter Gross. Netflix acquired Millar’s company, Millarworld, in late 2017, and Jupiter’s Legacy was the first show produced under that deal. We’ll continue to update this story as more developments come in…

Animated Storyboards announced that it has launched a new office in Toronto. Maria Hanafy will lead the new studio as managing director, along with four additional staffers - a director, producer, marketing associate and animator/editor. This marks the 10th office for Animated Storyboards, with offices in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, London, São Paulo, Bangkok, Tel Aviv, Düsseldorf and Shanghai. The 4,300-square-foot office will collaborate closely with sister facilities, whose global infrastructure currently includes nearly 300 full-time in-house illustrators, designers, directors, producers and 2D and 3D artists. The facility includes three edit suites, a state-of-the-art audio studio, a conference room and a spacious lobby area for client use.
