FuseFX Adds Jason Piccioni as Visual Effects Supervisor

-

Visual effects studio FuseFX has added Jason Piccioni to its roster of full-time supervisors.

Piccioni began his career in visual effects in the early 1990s at Dream Quest Images, working in the miniature department and proprietary real-time motion control systems and later with the company’s transition into the digital realm by assisting in the conversion of optical printers into the first generation of film scanners.

Piccioni then spent 10 years at Cinesite Hollywood and Warner Bros Animation, working as visual effects supervisor on such films as X-Men 2, After the Sunset, Reign of Fire, and The Lake House.

As an independent visual effects supervisor, he has worked regularly with various production companies, including Broken Lizard Industries and the Polish Brothers, on feature films such as The Dukes of Hazzard, The Astronaut Farmer, Beerfest and Invasion. Piccioni recently completed the fantasy/action film The Warrior’s Way for director Sngmoo Lee and producer Barrie Osborne. Shot entirely on greenscreen on location in New Zealand, Piccioni oversaw the design and creation of over 1,700 VFX shots, as well as directing visual effects and stunt units.

He currently supervises a range of projects for FuseFX, both in house and on set, including several ongoing projects for Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions and FX’s series American Horror Story. Blumhouse’s latest film, Sinister, releases Oct. 12.  Season 2 of American Horror Story premieres Oct. 17.

“Jason and I have worked together for many years on some major motion pictures,” said David Altenau, founder of FuseFX.  “He has a great eye and knows how to work closely with filmmakers to design and implement amazing visual effects. We’re really excited to have him as part of the team at Fuse.”
