Seth Meyers hosted the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony last night at the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles. Statuettes were presented in 26 categories and the event was broadcast live on NBC. In addition, Emmys in 80 other categories for programs and individual achievements were presented at the Creative Arts Awards on Aug. 16.
Overall, including last week’s awards, HBO led the pack with a total of 19 awards this year, followed by CBS and PBS with 11, NBC with 10 and ABC with eight. Surprisingly, Netflix came home empty handed last night, in spite of garnering 31 nominations in total for its popular shows – House of Cards, Orange is the New Black and Derek. The company did take home seven Creative Arts Awards last week.
Breaking Bad took home five Primetime Emmys, bringing its total to six, but the overall winner was Sherlock: His Last Vow (Masterpiece), which earned three Primetime Emmys and four Creative Arts awards for a total of seven.
Afterwards, winners, nominees and over 3,600 guests celebrated at the Governors Ball in the West Hall of the Los Angeles Convention Center.
