The Set Decorators Society of America’s 13th annual luncheon was held last month at the Ahmanson Ballroom in the Skirball Cultural Center, Los Angeles.A silent auction held beforehand showcased the SDSA members’ own collections of original art. A film montage saluted the work of set decorators Sharon Bonney, Mary Gray and Jean Simone. In addition, Architectural Digest sponsored a special Oscar-winning set decoration and art direction montage, created with advisor Ellen Harrington from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, with Paul Fagen editing. This luncheon also honored Lee Poll with a lifetime achievement award. Highlighting the presentation was a montage of her work in the craft of set decorating, showing clips from a career that includes the television series Murder, She Wrote and feature films Steel Magnolias, Sleeping With the Enemy, Places in the Heart and Grease 2, among others.
