Two-time Academy Award-nominated actress Naomi Watts will receive the LACOSTE Spotlight Award at the 17th annual Costume Designers Guild Awards on Feb. 17, 2015 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

The LACOSTE Spotlight Award honors an actor whose talent and career personify an enduring commitment to excellence, including a special awareness of the role and importance of costume design.

Born in England, Watts moved to Australia with her mother and brother at the age of 14 and began studying acting. David Lynch’s critically acclaimed film Mulholland Drive threw Watts into the spotlight, for which she earned best actress awards from a number of critics’ organizations, including the National Board of Review and National Society of Film Critics. In 2003, she starred alongside Sean Penn and Benicio del Toro in Alejandro González Iñárritu’s 21 Grams for which she received her first Oscar nomination. The same year, Watts was chosen to play Ann Darrow in director Peter Jackson’s King Kong.

Most recently, Watts starred in St. Vincent with Bill Murray and Melissa McCarthy, as well as Iñárritu’s Birdman with Emma Stone and Michael Keaton.

Watts’ upcoming films include Demolition with Jake Gyllenhaal as well as Insurgent, the next installment of the successful Divergent franchise based on the popular, best-selling novels written by Veronica Roth. She has also filmed Gus Van Sant‘s Sea Of Trees starring opposite Matthew McConaughey.
