The American Cinema Editors (ACE) has announced that it will be adding another new TV category to the 72nd Annual ACE Eddie Awards — “Best Edited Variety Talk/Sketch Show or Special.”
This new TV category joins the previously announced “Edited Animated Series (Non-Theatrical)” with submissions for all categories being open until February 12. Due to COVID, the entire timeline has been pushed back with the 72nd Annual ACE Eddie Awards being presented on April 18, 2021. Exact plans for how the ceremony will be held is still being determined.
The film eligibility period is from January 1, 2020 to February 21, 2021 while TV eligibility is from November 2, 2019 to December 31, 2020.

ACE Executive Director Jenni McCormick said about the latest award category: “The ACE Board unanimously voted to add this category.
