Daytime Emmy Award Winners Announced

-

LR-emmy-statuette-170x300-copyThis weekend the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) announced the winners of the 40th Annual Daytime Emmy awards as well as the Daytime Creative Arts Emmys.

The Daytime Creative Arts Emmys, (with more of a focus on the below-the-line crafts), were presented Friday evening at a sold-out gala for more than 1,100 attendees at the Westin Bonaventure, in downtown Los Angeles. The “regular” Daytime Emmys were presented last night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, broadcast live on the HLN Network.

“The daytime community is well and prospering as witnessed by this overwhelming turnout honoring the best in daytime television in more than 55 categories,” said Malachy Wienges, chairman, NATAS. “With so many stars here to salute those that work so hard behind the scenes, it’s a wonderful night for daytime television.”

In the Creative Arts categories, overall, CBS and PBS tied for the most wins with 13 Emmys each. The Ellen DeGeneres Show tied with Sesame Street with six awards each, followed by The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless with five wins.

In the regular Daytime Emmys, CBS led the pack with eight wins, followed by ABC with three. The Bold and the Beautiful contributed four Emmys to CBS’s total.

NATAS oversees Emmys for news and documentary, sports, daytime entertainment, daytime creative arts, public and community service and technology and engineering. In addition, the organization oversees regional Emmy Awards, given out in 19 regions across the United States recognizing local programming. The Primetime Emmy Awards are given out by sister organization, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS). NATAS separated from ATAS in the 1970s but both organizations agreed to share the Emmy statue and trademark.

The winners of the 40th Annual Daytime Creative Arts Emmys are:
