Hollywood Music In Media Awards to Honor Marc Shaiman With Lifetime Achievement Award

-

The Hollywood Music in Media Awards are approaching. For the 14th annual awards ceremony, the HMMA will present the Outstanding Career Achievement Award to composer and songwriter Marc Shaiman (ASCAP). Over the past decade, this awards show has honored composers, songwriters, and music supervisors for their contributions to the world of film, television, and video games.

This event serves as a celebration of music, featuring live performances, tributes to industry legends, and, of course, the presentation of awards to composers, songwriters, and artists. Marc Shaiman fits all three of these categories. Throughout his career, he has secured a Grammy, an Emmy, and a Tony, and has earned five Academy Award nominations. These accolades are more than well-deserved, considering Shaiman’s unforgettable music for film, stage, and television.

Most recently, Shaiman scored and co-wrote songs for the Broadway adaptation of Billy Wilder’s Some Like it Hot, which garnered 13 Tony nominations. As a film composer, his career is nothing short of remarkable and diverse. He has composed for films such as Sleepless in Seattle, When Harry Met Sally, City Slickers, The Addams Family, and Misery.

These titles only scratch the surface of the musician’s career, hence the recognition with the Outstanding Career Achievement Award. In the past, the HMMA has honored Smokey Robinson, Diane Warren, Earth, Wind & Fire, and more with this prestigious award. Needless to say, Shaiman is in good company. The voting academy consists of Golden Globe, Grammy, Emmy, and Oscar voters, as well as select journalists.

The Hollywood Music in Media Awards are scheduled for Wednesday, November 15, at 8:00 PM (PST) at The Avalon in Hollywood, California. Starting on October 16th, tickets for the show will be available. As for the nominees, submissions for all categories are currently open until October 15th, with nominations set to be announced on October 30th.
