Location Scouts Awards

The big winner at the 13th annual California on Location Awards was CSI:NY, a show which, despite its East Coast setting, is shot almost entirely in Los Angeles.
Location scouts for the CBS show won the production company/location team of the year award for episodic television. And CSI:NY location manager Tim Hillman won the award for location professional of the year for television.
“The hardest thing about doing the show in Los Angeles is when we need a river setting,” said Hillman. A dressed and flooded section of the Los Angeles River, a trickle within a cement riverbed, becomes the substitute.
Ilt Jones, supervising location manager for Transformers, which won the awards for for best feature film team, thanked FilmLA and its president, Steve McDonald, and Amy Lemisch of the California Film Commission. “This film would not have been shot in Los Angeles without their help,” he said.
