Sigma Corporation of America today announced that its 50-100mm F1.8 DC HSM Art lens and Mount Converter MC-11 have been honored by Professional Photographer with the 2016 Hot One Awards. The annual Hot One Awards are given to the year’s best and most noteworthy technology products for professional photographers. Winners will appear in the August issue of Professional Photographer and also in a featured gallery beginning August 1st on the Professional Photographer website.

Professional Photographer is the official magazine of Professional Photographers of America, the largest international non-profit association for professional photographers. It works to help readers advance their businesses and careers through editorial content that addresses the artistic, technological and business aspects of their work. This year marks the 17th Hot One Awards, and award recipients are more innovative and game changing than ever before.

About the 50-100mm F1.8 DC HSM Art Lens

The Sigma 50-100mm F1.8 DC HSM Art lens is a mid-range APS-C zoom lens that covers three popular short tele prime focal lengths: 85mm, 105mm and 135mm. Modeled after the popular Sigma Global Vision 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM Art lens, the 50-100mm Art maintains a constant F1.8 aperture with exceptional brightness and resolution through the zoom. Outstanding features include three FLD (performance equal to fluorite) glass elements and one high-refractive index, high-dispersion glass element to minimize aberrations; a redesigned, enhanced Hyper Sonic Motor; a durable polycarbonate diaphragm; a versatile inner focusing and zoom design, and more. It is ideal for photographers and videographers, and available in Canon, Nikon and Sigma mounts.

About the Mount Converter MC-11

The high-performance Sigma Global Vision lens converter, the Sigma Mount Converter MC-11 is engineered for Sony E-mount, full frame and APS-C sensor cameras. It allows users to access 15 high-performance Sigma Canon Mount (EF) and Sigma Mount (SA) Global Vision lenses. It features an internal control data system that ensures perfect optimization of AF drive, aperture control and additional supported functions including continuous autofocus and eye detection. Utilizing the latest technology, the MC-11 supports fast and accurate autofocus and will work in conjunction with in-camera stabilization and in-lens stabilization. With added integrated flocking, lens performance is assured to have no internal reflections and reduction. As new compatible lenses are released, the MC-11 can be updated via a personal computer using the Sigma Optimization Pro software and Sigma USB Dock.

Vicon Introduces Mobile Mocap at SIGGRAPH

Motion capture systems developer Vicon is previewing a futuristic new “Mobile Mocap” technology at SIGGRAPH 2011 in Vancouver. Moving mocap out of the lab and into the field, Vicon's Mobile Mocap system taps several new technologies, many years in the making. At the heart of Mobile Mocap is a very small lipstick-sized camera that enables less obtrusive, more accurate facial animation data. The new cameras capture 720p (1280X720) footage at 60 frames per second. In addition, a powerful processing unit synchronizes, stores, and wirelessly transmits the data, all in a tiny wearable design.
