Kayla Monetta has joined international music company Squeak E. Clean Studios as its Director of New Business.
Monetta will work out of the company’s New York location, where she will shape the company’s sales strategies and approach, and continue to scale revenue across North America through new initiatives, partnerships, and markets. Since she can speak the language of both musicians and brand clients thanks to her industry acumen, she will collaborate closely with studio EPs to ensure that Squeak E. Clean continues to produce creative, artist-driven, and professional results, lending a creative edge to traditional sales posts. Monetta’s experience further strengthens the studio’s Music Supervision team, which has now grown to six.
Monetta’s career has spanned a broad scope of music marketing, publicity and production roles, from licensing and supervision to creative direction, journalism, project management, and beyond. She has worked on album campaigns for clients including The Strokes, Yacht, Miike Snow, Autre Ne Veut, White Denim, and many more. She has served as the Director of Licensing and A&R with The Greater Goods Co. and Music Supervisor and Head of A&R with BUTTER Music and Sound.
“I am incredibly excited to have Kayla join the team,” Squeak E. Clean’s Hamish Macdonald said in a statement. Not only does she have deep knowledge and passion for the craft of music, but she also understands the importance of how sound plays into the best industry work. Outside of that, her appreciation of the culture we have built, and her desire to immerse herself in all we’re trying to do makes her an invaluable member of the family.’
“Squeak E. Clean Studios’ reputation speaks for itself. I couldn’t be more honored to be joining this crew of insanely talented and passionate producers, musicians, creatives, and most importantly, music lovers,” added Monetta. “I’m very excited to come on board and apply the knowledge I have gained from my creative experience at record labels, licensing, and music supervision companies and apply it to Squeak E. Clean Studios’ sales efforts in new and refreshing ways.”
A former college radio DJ, Monetta began her career writing about bands and overseeing digital marketing in New York at VICE’s Noisey before working for indie record labels such as Downtown Records and Cult Records. She moved to Los Angeles in 2016 to pursue music licensing at Third Side Music Publishing before moving on to The Greater Goods Co. where she signed artists while pitching and placing music in ads, television shows, video games, and more. This led to a role at BUTTER Music and Sound where she was their Music Supervisor and Head of A&R, working with clients like Dominos, Supercell, Google, Spectrum, Haagen Dazs, and more.
