LMGI Elects 2019-2020 Board of Directors


LMGI.logo.1The Location Managers Guild International (LMGI) has announced the new Board of Directors for the 2019-2020 term. Newly elected members of the Board are Ken Haber (12 Strong, Suburbicon), Georgette Turner (Edge of Tomorrow, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them), Edward Mazurek (Too Old to Die Young, The Circle) and Walter Roshetski (Criminal Minds). Haber is currently photo editor for the LMGI Compass Magazine. Haber and Turner are also UK Regional Co-Chairs of the membership committee. Mazurek was instrumental in the formation of the EIDC, which became FilmLA, the non-profit that oversees film permits in the Los Angeles area. Roshetski has been on the long-running series Criminal Minds for 14 years.

Returning Board members re-elected to new terms are current LMGI President Mike Fantasia (Top Gun: Maverick, Spider Man: Homecoming), New York based commercial Location Manager and ALSAM co-founder Jimmy Ayoub, Matt Chamberlin (Sleepy Hollow, Sully), Mac Gordon (MacGyver, The Mentalist), Wes Hagan (Ozark, Hidden Figures) and Alison A. Taylor (A Wrinkle in Time, Straight Outta Compton).

Board Members still serving their current terms are LMGI 1st Vice President, Jennifer “JJ” Levine (The Mayor, The Muppets) and LMGI 2nd Vice President and Compass Editor, Lori Balton (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Jack Ryan), Matt Palmer (Fargo, Descendants 3), John Rakich (Shadow Hunters, Hannibal) and New York based commercial Location Manager and ALSAM co-founder, Les Fincher.

Outgoing Board members are Dorion Thomas (Take My Wife, NCIS: LA), Mario Ramirez of Reel Security and Dan Taylor of Inland Empire Film Services, along with founding member and former President and Treasurer, Eric Klosterman (Justified, TJ Hooker).

Upcoming LMGI events include “Car Work, From Simple to Extreme” on location in Los Angeles and The Sixth Annual LMGI Awards Saturday, September 21 at the Broad Stage in Santa Monica, California. Officers for the new 2019 LMGI Board of Directors will be determined at the next board meeting.

Vicon Introduces Mobile Mocap at SIGGRAPH

Motion capture systems developer Vicon is previewing a futuristic new “Mobile Mocap” technology at SIGGRAPH 2011 in Vancouver. Moving mocap out of the lab and into the field, Vicon's Mobile Mocap system taps several new technologies, many years in the making. At the heart of Mobile Mocap is a very small lipstick-sized camera that enables less obtrusive, more accurate facial animation data. The new cameras capture 720p (1280X720) footage at 60 frames per second. In addition, a powerful processing unit synchronizes, stores, and wirelessly transmits the data, all in a tiny wearable design.
