With A Twist Taps Former Cinesite President as Exec Producer

-

With A Twist Studio, a computer animation and visual effects studio servicing the feature film and advertising industries, has brought on Dan Lombardo as executive producer/general manager of its Los Angeles production facility. Lombardo, who arrives from a similar position with Montreal-based Digital Dimension, will oversee West Coast production, client relations, sales and other activities for the company.

Lombardo has produced visual effects for such films as Get Smart, Rendition and Live Free or Die Hard. He comes to the role with more than 15 years of experience in visual effects production. Prior to joining Digital Dimension in 2005, he served as president and general manager at Cinesite Digital Studios, Hollywood. He also worked as a visual effects producer at Sony Pictures Imageworks on Zathura—A Space Adventure and served as a visual effects consultant at 20th Century Fox on X-Men: The Last Stand.

“The creative talent pool is amazing, and I believe they are well positioned to become a strong force in Los Angeles,” said Lombardo. “Having established itself in the commercial world, With A Twist is ready to push forward with features. When industry professionals uncover this ‘diamond in the rough’ they will have their work delivered with quality and boutique-style client service at a reasonable price point. It is a great opportunity to be a part of that realization.”

Vicon Introduces Mobile Mocap at SIGGRAPH

1
Motion capture systems developer Vicon is previewing a futuristic new “Mobile Mocap” technology at SIGGRAPH 2011 in Vancouver. Moving mocap out of the lab and into the field, Vicon's Mobile Mocap system taps several new technologies, many years in the making. At the heart of Mobile Mocap is a very small lipstick-sized camera that enables less obtrusive, more accurate facial animation data. The new cameras capture 720p (1280X720) footage at 60 frames per second. In addition, a powerful processing unit synchronizes, stores, and wirelessly transmits the data, all in a tiny wearable design.
