Chuck Parker Sworn in as Returning National Executive Director of Art Directors Guild

Chuck Parker was sworn in as returning National Executive Director of the Art Directors Guild (ADG, IATSE Local 800) o Wednesday, while Joel Cohen began his first three-year term as Associate National Executive Director.

“I am pleased to welcome back National Executive Director Chuck Parker, and look forward to continuing our work together on behalf of our 3,100 members to build an even stronger Guild,” Nelson Coates, the guild’s National President, said in a statement. “I also welcome and look forward to working with incoming Associate National Executive Director Joel Cohen, who has served the Guild with distinction for the past six years.”

Also sworn in and starting their terms today are Evan Rohde, Art Directors Council Chair and Board member; Susan Bolles, Council Vice Chair; Nikki Rudloff, Council Secretary; Oana B. Miller, Treasurer; Mark Worthington and Dina Lipton, ADG Board members; and Korey Washington and Michele Yu as Council members.

Members of the Illustrators, Storyboard Artists and Matte Artists Craft are Tim Wilcox as their Council Chair; Jarid Boyce, Council Vice Chair; Casey Bernay, Council Treasurer and Chris Brandt and Fae Corrigan, Council members.

Set Designers and Model Makers Craft members starting their three-year terms are Kristen Davis as Council Chair and Board member, Adriana Dardas as Council Vice Chair, Carol Bentley as Council Secretary, Marco Miehe as Council Treasurer, and Rebecca Coulter and Sam Ogden as Council members.

Members of the Scenic, Title and Graphic Artists Craft starting their three-year terms are Clint Schultz as Council Chair and Board member and TJ Searl as Council Vice Chair. Alex Maziekien and Eric Rosenberg join the ADG Board, while Johnny LeBlanc and Anastasia Sergeeva start as members of the STG Council.

Vicon Introduces Mobile Mocap at SIGGRAPH

Motion capture systems developer Vicon is previewing a futuristic new “Mobile Mocap” technology at SIGGRAPH 2011 in Vancouver. Moving mocap out of the lab and into the field, Vicon's Mobile Mocap system taps several new technologies, many years in the making. At the heart of Mobile Mocap is a very small lipstick-sized camera that enables less obtrusive, more accurate facial animation data. The new cameras capture 720p (1280X720) footage at 60 frames per second. In addition, a powerful processing unit synchronizes, stores, and wirelessly transmits the data, all in a tiny wearable design.
