Advanced Systems Group will discuss large raster acquisition workflow challenges during 4K Workflow 2012 – its annual workshop, on Dec. 4, at the New People Cinema in San Francisco. The free workshop begins at 10 a.m. and lunch will be served.
“4K is already being called ‘the new HD’ in some circles. It is certainly becoming a viable acquisition and distribution format, but there are still a number of challenges associated with adopting this technology,” said Dave Van Hoy, ASG president. “4K Workflow 2012 will explore options at every point in the production process, including how to manage 4K file-based workflows.”
The workshop will include a 4K overview led by veteran director of photography and industry consultant Suny Behar. The session will address technical specifications, particularly 4K acquisition and camera technologies. Jordan Livingston, an independent filmmaker and digital imaging technician who serves the Hollywood and Bay Area markets through his company, DIGILOID, will discuss DIT and DAM, file-based workflows for high-resolution camera systems, and workflows for on-set color, dailies and transcoding.
Westernized Productions, a San Francisco-based design firm specializing in animation and visual effects, will present “Compositing and Motion Graphics in the Large Raster World.” Other sessions will include “Color Correction and Color Management” and “Deliverables and the Delivery Process.”
