Studio City-based Illuminate recently wrapped a project for the newly-sold documentary about Russell Brand, Brand: A Second Coming, from two-time Sundance grand jury prize-winning director Ondi Timoner (DIG!, We Live in Public). Illuminate was tapped by Interloper Films to provide online services, color correction and a digital cinema package for the film, which follows Brand as he dives headlong into drugs, sex and fame in an attempt to find happiness.
Illuminate took on the project in January, working closely with Timoner and Interloper Films producers to complete the film, which spans over seven years of coverage, portraying the evolution and personal struggles of Brand from a stand-up comedian to an author and activist.
“This was a complicated project involving footage from numerous sources that had to be conformed and color corrected in a certain way to help tell the story,” said Illuminate’s president Tal Fiala.
Brand: A Second Coming made its world premiere at this year’s SXSW Film Festival and was just hours from its screening at the Los Angeles Film Festival when Ignite Channel acquired the distribution rights. The documentary is now set to be released in theaters nationwide.
