In Southern California, one location offers a rocky lakeside backdrop that might be the setting in a classic ’80s slasher film such as Friday The 13th. The region famously boasts scenery as diverse as mountains, beaches and desert, and what better place to set a horror film festival than a gothic mountainous resort town? Thus, the Big Bear Horro-Fi Film Festival was set up to provide a forum for both established and novice genre filmmakers.
From Sept. 30-Oct. 2, the festival, now in its third year, will promote the advancement and creativity of filmmaking, and showcase films to audiences who are proponents of horror and science fiction genres. The host city, Big Bear Lake, Calif., just two hours from Los Angeles, offers a scenic atmosphere of intimacy, providing accessibility between horror celebrities, filmmakers and fans.
