The Set Decorators Society of America (SDSA) and its SETDECOR magazine has offered another great “Inside the Set with SETDECOR,” which takes a look at Jane Campion‘s critically-hailed adaptation of The Power of the Dog, which is now streaming on Netflix.
In the piece, SETDECOR talks with Set Decorator Amber Richards and Production Designer Grant Major about creating and building some of the ranch locations for the period drama starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons, and Kodi Smit-Mcphee. Campion, her film and the cast have been receiving numerous early critical awards as well as being nominated both for Golden Globes and the Critics Choice Awards.
The film was shot in New Zealand, standing in for Montana, but Richards made a trip to the United States to do research before decorating the ranch house where most of the film takes place.
