Montreal-based post house Station 29 announced that it will open Studio 39 this spring – the first of three new film rehearsal studios in downtown Montreal, offering local television and film producers and artists a reasonably priced mid-size studio and rehearsal space.
The 2,500-square-foot, open area will feature the latest high-tech equipment and a full service, integrated production office. Users will have complete freedom regarding the choice of in-studio and postproduction service suppliers.
The company plans to expand its offering adding two additional studios by the spring of 2014 to accommodate more film crews, and provide rehearsal space for dance troupes and musical ensembles. The Studio 39 founders Andrew Mikus and Frédéric Sauvé will provide the total $500,000 investment required for the project.
“Mid-size studios are in short supply in the Province of Quebec,” Sauvé said. “Based on our analysis, there is a definite need and demand for this studio format, particularly in the Montreal area.”
