Super Star Power Productions Chooses Qube Cinema System for New 4K DI Suite

Qube Cinema has installed its XP-I server and Xi 4K integrated media block (IMB) in Super Star Power Productions‘ new 4K DI suite in Los Angeles. The combination postproduction facility and theater offers a seamless 4K pipeline from review of uncompressed 4K image files taken directly from 4K cameras, through color grading at 4K, to the Qube XP-I server and Xi IMB and projected via Barco‘s new DP4K-P postproduction projector. Clients will be able to review 4K images, color grade at 4K in real time and generate 4K DCPs for final QC, all from a single 4K projector in a home-like setting. […]

California’s Tax Incentive Bill Clears Another Hurdle

California’s Senate Governance and Finance Committee passed the California Film and Television Job Retention and Promotion Act of 2014 (AB 1839) by a vote of 6-0. Hydraulx Launches Hydraulx Filmz

Playa Vista-based visual effects house Hydraulx announced the launch of a new production stage and camera equipment rental division called Hydraulx Filmz. The new location offers clients a 40,000 square foot facility with 22,000 square feet of usable sound stage space, 25-foot high ceilings and 60’ x 30’ green screens. Hydraulx Filmz will also rent camera and lens packages, with an inventory that includes nine Red Epic Dragon 6K cameras, four stereo camera rigs with matching lenses and a QTake Video Assist System.
