UCLA Hosts Costume Design Panel

-

The UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television hosted a thought-provoking panel discussion with some of Hollywood’s top costume designers, Feb 25. The event, moderated by Nadja Swarovski at the Hammer Museum was followed by a creative workshop with costume and art direction students.

Participating costume designers included: Anatella Cannarozzi, (I Am Love); Mark Bridges, (The Fighter); Arianne Phillips, (Walk the Line, 3:10 to Yuma); Jenny Beavan, (The King’s Speech); Sandy Powell, (Young Victoria, The Departed); Ellen Mirojnick, (Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps), and Danny Glicker, (Up In The Air, Milk).

The panel was presented as part of an innovative partnership between the David C. Copley Center for Costume Design at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television (TFT) and Swarovski – an Austrian jeweler and producer of precision-cut crystal. The “Swarovski Distinguished Designer Panels” offer students of design a unique opportunity to meet and interact with some of the entertainment industry’s most respected practitioners of the craft. Additionally, the school will launch The Swarovski National Design Competition at 2012 DSW, to be offered annually to all graduate students of design in the U.S.
