Mexico’s Color Space Expands with FilmLight

-

Mexican commercial finishing house Color Space has opened its third color suite, built around a further Baselight ONE grading system and a Slate control panel from FilmLight. Color Space installed the first of its Baselight grading system when it opened its doors in 2010, together with a Northlight film scanner. In 2012, the company installed its second system for its digital intermediate and finishing services.

“The purpose of introducing our new grading suite is to accommodate clients with more restricted budgetary requirements,” explained Color Space founder Mariana Martinez. “Our clients are increasingly under pressure to implement cost-saving strategies while maintaining the high standard and quality of services they expect to receive. Baselight ONE and Slate enables us to support these clients, as they consistently deliver the FilmLight experience, at a lower price point.”

Baselight ONE provides full functionality and fits within Color Space’s existing workflow, making the integration quick and easy. Slate is FilmLight’s new compact grading control panel. It includes the same adaptive keys and limitless encoders as the full-scale Blackboard 2 panel, but in a much more compact form to fit into multi-purpose suites.

As well as introducing the new suite, Color Space has upgraded all of its Baselight software to 4.4. This adds new creative tools, such as composite-style layer blending, as well as workflow efficiencies, including simplifying ACES and digital cinematography workflows with the new Generalized Color Spaces, and speeding processing with the Render Queue and Deliverables Manager.
