While the Art Directors Guild were giving out their ADG Awards this past weekend, across the pond, the British Film Designers Guild were giving out their own 12th Annual British Film Designers Guild Production Design Awards at the Londoner Hotel in London on Saturday, Feb. 18.
There wasn’t a lot of crossover between the two groups. In fact, there was none, as the BFDG chose James Chinlund‘s team on The Batman and the team on Ron Howard‘s Thirteen Lives for its Fantasy and Contemporary International Feature Films respectively. Joe Wright‘s Cyrano and Sam Mendes‘ Empire of Light also won awards despite getting very little awards traction in the States. (Cyrano received an awards-consideration release in 2021, so it wouldn’t be eligible this year.)
As far as television goes, the Netflix series, Wednesday, and the BBC’s Killing Eve.
One thing that separates the BFDG awards from ADG’s is that they also name a film’s Set Decorator as part of the team.
