The American Cinema Editors (ACE) has announced that the 2021 Eddie Awards will be held later than usual on Sunday, April 18, 2021, to line-up with the amended April 25 date for next year’s Academy Awards ceremony. The group has also added a category for Best Edited Animated Series (Non-Theatrical) to the mix.
The Eddie Awards will be handed out in some form of virtual event as to maintain safety due to the current pandemic.
The rundown of awards that will be handed out April 18 are as follows:

Best Edited Animated Feature Film
Best Edited Animated Series (Non-Theatrical)
Best Edited Documentary (Feature)
Best Edited Documentary (Non-Theatrical)

Best Edited Comedy Series for Non-Commercial Television Best Edited Drama Series for Commercial Television

Two Career Achievement recipients will receive special honors that evening, and the Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year honor will be bestowed upon a filmmaker who “exemplifies distinguished achievement in the art and business of film.” Those three recipients will be announced later in the year.
The feature film category will be extended to include every movie released between January 1, 2020 and February 21, 2021, while television shows submitted for the Ace Eddie Awards must have aired between November 2, 2019 and December 31, 220. Submissions open on November 2, 2020, and close on February 12, 2021.
Also today, the Producers Guild of America (PGA) announced that it will also be following the Oscars’ lead and has moved next year’s 32nd annual PGA Awards to Wednesday, March 24, and like the recent Emmys, the awards will be held virtually due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.The television categories would still cover the January 1 to December 31, 2020 range, but theatrical categories will be extended to cover movies released up until February 28, 2021, just like with the Oscars.
