SMPTE Introduces New Logo and Website

-

SMPTE.logoToday, SMPTE has introduced a new logo and website. Along with these changes, SMPTE is redefining the way it serves professionals so that the Society can be more accessible and agile in meeting its members’ needs. In addition to the website modifications, the Society is developing plans to promote greater diversity, equity, and inclusion within SMPTE and the industry as a whole.

Displayed on the redesigned website is the new SMPTE logo, which features an updated typeface and iconic camera iris graphic represented in the SMPTE Color Bar colors. Changes to both site structure and content bring access to relevant, timely, and useful information and educational material.

The changes made by the SMPTE will be evident in this year’s annual technical conference, SMPTE 2020: “Game On”, a virtual event running November 10-12. The Society will make technical presentations, educational sessions, exhibits, and networking opportunities available to members around the world. Special pricing options are designed to eliminate cost as a barrier for any participant, whether student or professional.

Vicon Introduces Mobile Mocap at SIGGRAPH

1
Motion capture systems developer Vicon is previewing a futuristic new “Mobile Mocap” technology at SIGGRAPH 2011 in Vancouver. Moving mocap out of the lab and into the field, Vicon's Mobile Mocap system taps several new technologies, many years in the making. At the heart of Mobile Mocap is a very small lipstick-sized camera that enables less obtrusive, more accurate facial animation data. The new cameras capture 720p (1280X720) footage at 60 frames per second. In addition, a powerful processing unit synchronizes, stores, and wirelessly transmits the data, all in a tiny wearable design.
