The Cinema Audio Society announced the winners of the 59th Annual CAS Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing 2022 on Saturday night at the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown.
Top Gun: Maverick, Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, and the David Bowie documentary Moonage Daydream won the top prizes on the feature side, while the big winners on the TV side included Better Call Saul, Only Murders in the Building, and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Oscar-nominated production sound mixer Peter J. Devlin, CAS (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever) was honored with the CAS Career Achievement Award, while Bardo Director Alejandro González Iñárritu was feted as the 2023 CAS Filmmaker of the Year. The Student Recognition Award went to Timo Nelson.
Chosen by sound mixers, the CAS Awards celebrate excellence in the craft of sound mixing for film and television. Hundreds of entries are reviewed and evaluated every year by experienced and accomplished CAS members who understand the art and science of sound mixing.
