NAB Show New York has announced that 14-time Emmy-winning broadcast anchor, host and executive producer, Meredith Vieira, currently hosting FOX Television’s 25 Words or Less, will receive the National Association of Broadcasters’ Impact Award during this year’s NAB Show New York. NAB President and CEO Gordon H. Smith will present the award honoring leaders in media and entertainment for their influence and impact on the industry to Ms. Vieira at a virtual ceremony on Friday, October 23 at Noon Eastern.
Vieira was one of the original moderators for the popular talk show The View, beginning her national broadcasting career at CBS News while spending a decade as co-anchor of CBS Morning News and working as a news editor for 60 Minutes and West 57th. Her tenure as a news editor led to five Emmy Awards for those shows’ investigative and culturally significant coverage. She left CBS News in 1993 to co-host The View and to become co-anchor for NBC‘s Today, and she returned to the latter to guest host in 2019. Vieira also hosted and exec. produced her own talk show, The Meredith Vieira Show, and was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in 2003. The official description of the Impact Award with which she’ll be honored is: “The NAB Show New York Impact Award honors the most innovative leaders in media and entertainment for their impact and influence on the overall industry, as well as in the city of New York. Vieira will be honored for her decades-long success as a host and figure in the industry. The award presentation is open to all attendees.”
