It’s been announced that Pinewood Atlanta Studios in Atlanta, Georgia is going solo as its own entity called ‘Trilith‘ — a Stonehenge reference — after buying out its involvement with the famed United Kingdom studio of the same name. It will be developing its expanded production facilities into a 935-acre full-blown residential community with the Pinewood facilities as its campus-like core.
Both The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline were given extensive details about the owner’s plans for Trilith, which will have 1,400 homes designed for 5,000 residents, including ten high-end homes for A-list stars. The idea is that people who regularly work at Pinewood will have a much-easier commute to work by living on the grounds.
The Pinewood Group, which still runs the UK studios of the same name, sold its stake in Pinewood Atlanta to locals Frank Patterson, president and CEO of Trilith Studios, LLC, and his partner Rob Parker last year, which allowed the studio to start movie forward with expansion plans despite the shutdown that likely affected it for much of the summer.
The new residential neighborhood recently launched the restaurant, Barleygarden Kitchen & Craft, and it includes the 60,000 square-foot fitness facility, the Piedmont Wellness Center, as well as the K-12 micro-school focusing on arts and technology, called The Forest School. Parker and his partners are already planning to build a 180-room boutique hotel, a 120-room select service hotel, a nine-screen luxury cinema and an 18,000 square foot sound stage to be able to hold industry and arts-related events in the town. 51% of the acreage will be dedicated to green space, including nature trails.
