Writers Guild Nominations

WGA-Awards - cropped and k

The Writer’s Guild of America has announced the nominees for Outstanding Writing in film, television, new media, video games, news, radio, promotional, and graphic animation categories. All winners will be honored at the WGA Awards show on February 17, 2019 in joint ceremony at the Edison Ballroom in New York and the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.

WGA members voted on 63 eligible original screenplays and 60 adapted scripts. The scripts for “The Favourite,” “Sorry to Bother You,” “Isle of Dogs,” “Hereditary,” “Leave No Trace,” “Death of Stalin,” and “Incredibles 2” were not eligible. Unlike other guilds, the WGA excludes as candidates any screenplays not produced under its jurisdiction or that of another guild. That’s because the WGA has the ultimate authority over determining which writers receive screenplay credit, if the script is produced under WGA jurisdiction.

And the nominees are:

Vicon Introduces Mobile Mocap at SIGGRAPH

Motion capture systems developer Vicon is previewing a futuristic new “Mobile Mocap” technology at SIGGRAPH 2011 in Vancouver. Moving mocap out of the lab and into the field, Vicon's Mobile Mocap system taps several new technologies, many years in the making. At the heart of Mobile Mocap is a very small lipstick-sized camera that enables less obtrusive, more accurate facial animation data. The new cameras capture 720p (1280X720) footage at 60 frames per second. In addition, a powerful processing unit synchronizes, stores, and wirelessly transmits the data, all in a tiny wearable design.
