Tom Walsh, president of the Art Directors Guild (IATSE Local 800) announced that the guild’s board of directors have extended executive director Scott Roth’s contract for another three years. Roth has held the position since 1997.
A graduate of UCLA, prior to joining the ADG, Roth was a labor lawyer from 1978-81, serving as West Coast counsel for the National Association of Government Employees. From 1983-88 he was associate general counsel for the Directors Guild of America. He obtained his law degree at UCLA. His wife, Grace Reiner is a legal affairs vice president at Disney Channel.
Following recent mergers, the 75-year-old ADG now represents over 2,000 members including production designers, art directors, scenic and graphic artists, set designers, model makers, storyboard illustrators and matte painters.
