AICPgives Food and Goods Drive Kicks Off In Los Angeles

LR-AICPGives_Banner-960x345The AICP West Board announced the second annual #AICPgives, a Food & Goods Drive to benefit local non-profit organization Gobble Gobble Give, which served thousands of needy families and individuals over the last 14 years. Last year, Gobble, Gobble Give provided care packages and meals to more than 3,000 people in Los Angeles.

AICP member companies and all industry partners and affiliates are encouraged to collect donations during November in anticipation of Gobble Gobble Gives’ Thanksgiving Day distribution. Quixote is coordinating pick-up and delivery of donation boxes to participating member companies. Members may also drop-off donations at any Quixote location.

Items may include: canned goods, boxed food (that can be consumed without cooking) and new or used clothing items in good condition (socks, sweaters, beanies, etc.). Collecting unopened bars of soap and shampoo bottles, toothbrush and toothpaste kits, is a great way to help.

Vicon Introduces Mobile Mocap at SIGGRAPH

Motion capture systems developer Vicon is previewing a futuristic new “Mobile Mocap” technology at SIGGRAPH 2011 in Vancouver. Moving mocap out of the lab and into the field, Vicon's Mobile Mocap system taps several new technologies, many years in the making. At the heart of Mobile Mocap is a very small lipstick-sized camera that enables less obtrusive, more accurate facial animation data. The new cameras capture 720p (1280X720) footage at 60 frames per second. In addition, a powerful processing unit synchronizes, stores, and wirelessly transmits the data, all in a tiny wearable design.
