At the LDI Show in Las Vegas last week, Fred Foster, CEO of Electronic Theatre Controls, (ETC), presented a check for $24,909.25 for Behind the Scenes to Rick Rudolph and Mark Heiser, the chair and treasurer of the PLASA Foundation. The donation, the second of this year, reflected ongoing proceeds from sales of ETC’s iRFR and aRFR (Radio Focus Remote) applications for iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad and Android devices.
Behind the Scenes provides entertainment technology industry members who are ill or injured with grants that may be used for basic living and medical expenses.
When these apps were developed by ETC software engineers Chris Mizerak and Anders Ekvall, ETC employee Luke Delwiche suggested donating the proceeds to charity. Since then, the company has donated just under $200,000 to Behind the Scenes.
“We’re so honored to be able to support Behind the Scenes this way,” said Foster. “By simply downloading the iRFR or aRFR app, lighting professionals are able to help out our colleagues in need. Such a small action has made a very big impact over the years.”
“We are grateful that the folks at ETC are able to continue their extraordinary contribution to Behind the Scenes,” said Heiser. “Fred has a deep understanding of the mission and goals of the PLASA Foundation, and as an industry leader his continued commitment to Behind the Scenes sets a high bar for others to reach.”
