Cut+Run‘s managing director/EP Michelle Burke and editor Steve Gandolfi have launched a new Cut + Run Los Angeles office in Santa Monica.

Located at 2044 Broadway, Cut + Run Los Angeles features Gandolfi, Jay Nelson and Isaac Chen and also represents the award-winning editing talent from Cut+Run New York, UK and Asia.

“This is an exciting time for the company with our expansion into Asia and the development of the new Cut+Run Los Angeles,” said Burke. “We are always continuing to evaluate the marketplace and evolve our business model to best facilitate the creative process and provide a premiere model of services for our clients. It’s a fine-tuned combination of talent, resources and a progressive workflow and collaboration that we are excited to share with the industry wrapped in our own special culture.”

Cut + Run LA features four edit suites, finishing and premiere client service. Recent Los Angeles-based projects include Microsoft for CP+B, VW and PlayStation for Deutsch, Lexus for TeamOne and Travelers for Fallon. Via London, Asia and NYC, Cut + Run has contributed to new projects for Heineken, ESPN, Wheetabix, Lexus, HBO, Chase, Coke, 7Up, Chevy and BBC.

Motion capture systems developer Vicon is previewing a futuristic new “Mobile Mocap” technology at SIGGRAPH 2011 in Vancouver. Moving mocap out of the lab and into the field, Vicon's Mobile Mocap system taps several new technologies, many years in the making. At the heart of Mobile Mocap is a very small lipstick-sized camera that enables less obtrusive, more accurate facial animation data. The new cameras capture 720p (1280X720) footage at 60 frames per second. In addition, a powerful processing unit synchronizes, stores, and wirelessly transmits the data, all in a tiny wearable design.
