Chache-A’s Prime-Cache5

Archiving appliances manufacturer, Cache-A Corporation, will unveil a new, more durable edition of its Prime-Cache5 desktop archive appliance this week at IBC 2012, Amsterdam. This next-generation version of Cache-A’s popular Prime-Cache5 is quiet enough for both office and on-set use and, in addition to a toughened chassis, it features a built-in 2.5-inch HDD RAID 0, that accelerates disk-based transfer speeds. These enhancements are emphasized by Cache-A’s latest v3.1 software upgrade, based on 64-bit enterprise level CentOS 6.2, adding new LTFS capabilities, delivering more in performance and operability.

“Anyone looking for a compact, portable and cost-effective LTO-5 archiving appliance will really appreciate the beefed-up features of the new Prime-Cache5,” said Phil Ritti, CEO of Cache-A.

Prime-Cache5 archive appliance was Cache-A’s first product introduction, providing professionals in film and video with networkable LTO-tape storage systems at an affordable price. This next-generation Prime-Cache5 enhances its capabilities in office and on-set production environments, while remaining compact and quiet.

Highlights of the new Prime-Cache5 include a reinforced metal chassis, 2.5-inch RAID 0 storage, new v3.1 software, featuring 64-bit processing, high-speed LTFS (Linear Tape File System) dubbing, plus new LTFS tape-spanning capabilities, and other features allowing users to archive, access and exchange archived content easily.

Prime Cache5 integrates into file-based workflows, and its connectivity options include a dual GB Ethernet port, plus twoUSB3.0 ports and four USB2.0 ports. The built-in catalog database enables Prime-Cache5 to remember every single Cache-A tape it has ever seen, and can be shared with all other Cache-A appliances on a network. At 10.75” x 4.4” x 10.75” (273mm x 112mm x 273mm) the Prime-Cache5, and associated cabling can easily fit inside a small case for safe transportation.
