Codex Introduces Support For ARRI Alexa Studio

-

Codex now supports the ARRI Alexa Studio.
Codex Digital announced full support for the new ARRI Alexa Studio. The combination of the Alexa Studio, with its 4:3 sensor and optical viewfinder, and the Codex Onboard Recorder, is already proving to be a popular choice for feature films. The combination is currently being used on films such as Skyfall (Roger Deakins, ASC, BSC) and The Lone Ranger (Bojan Bozelli, ASC).

Codex ARRIRAW Plus and the Codex Onboard recorders can record up to 48 frames per second of ARRIRAW from the Alexa Studio in 4:3 mode, using Codex’ new high speed data packs. In 16:9 mode, it is possible to record up to 60 frames per second using regular Codex data packs, as is currently done with the Alexa and Alexa Plus.

Codex Digital has also released a new build for the Codex Transfer Station for Mac OS X. The build is required when using Codex equipment employed in tandem with the ARRI Alexa Studio camera.

Vicon Introduces Mobile Mocap at SIGGRAPH

1
Motion capture systems developer Vicon is previewing a futuristic new “Mobile Mocap” technology at SIGGRAPH 2011 in Vancouver. Moving mocap out of the lab and into the field, Vicon's Mobile Mocap system taps several new technologies, many years in the making. At the heart of Mobile Mocap is a very small lipstick-sized camera that enables less obtrusive, more accurate facial animation data. The new cameras capture 720p (1280X720) footage at 60 frames per second. In addition, a powerful processing unit synchronizes, stores, and wirelessly transmits the data, all in a tiny wearable design.
