MTI Film to Showcase the CORTEX CarryOn at Cine Gear 2014

LR-CarryOnMTI Film will demonstrate its CORTEX CarryOn, the new all-in-one media management and dailies appliance for use on-set, at Cine Gear 2014. Powered by CORTEX Dailies software, the CarryOn debuted at NAB 2014 and is already in use on the A&E series Longmire.

The CORTEX CarryOn is designed to be compact, lightweight and rugged. Capable of processing dailies at resolutions up to 4K from digital cinema cameras, including ARRI, Sony, Canon and RED, the unit comes equipped with MTI Film’s CORTEX Dailies Enterprise Edition software on an optimized platform. Playback via HD-SDI and HDMI is available at resolutions up to 4K using MTI Film’s High Quality UpRes algorithm. The system features a liquid-cooled Intel i7 processor for quiet operation, a 12TB SSD RAID, GPU-accelerated rendering and both Thunderbolt 2 and USB3.0 technology.

The CORTEX CarryOn is now available for direct sale to productions, postproduction facilities, editorial houses and rental houses. MTI Film has also developed a rental model to fit CORTEX into a standard production or DIT budget.

Motion capture systems developer Vicon is previewing a futuristic new “Mobile Mocap” technology at SIGGRAPH 2011 in Vancouver. Moving mocap out of the lab and into the field, Vicon's Mobile Mocap system taps several new technologies, many years in the making. At the heart of Mobile Mocap is a very small lipstick-sized camera that enables less obtrusive, more accurate facial animation data. The new cameras capture 720p (1280X720) footage at 60 frames per second. In addition, a powerful processing unit synchronizes, stores, and wirelessly transmits the data, all in a tiny wearable design.
