Studio Post Kopic has expanded its service offerings with the purchase of a Mistika DI Post Production System from SGO. The boutique studio specializes in the creation of 2D and stereoscopic 3D content and is based in Montreal, Quebec. Studio Post Kopic is headed by editor Alain Baril and digital artist Nicolas Fournier.

“In the current economic climate, larger post facilities are having to restructure themselves in order to survive and producers are no longer interested in a ‘hypermarket’ style service. As a boutique post facility, the timing is perfect for us to move forward with Mistika in order to offer innovation, technologies and methods that provide that personal service,” said Baril.

Studio Post Kopic’s current projects include the film Stealing Alice, directed and produced by Marc Séguin, OutSideIn, a short Stereo 3D film using S3D micro-rigs, directed and produced by Newfoundland filmmaker Anne Troake. In collaboration with Sherbrooke University, Studio Post Kopic has also developed a stereoscopic 3D robot to capture RAW 2K DPX files. Blended with Mistika, a full package will be available early 2014 to produce stereo 3D content.

Vicon Introduces Mobile Mocap at SIGGRAPH

1
Motion capture systems developer Vicon is previewing a futuristic new “Mobile Mocap” technology at SIGGRAPH 2011 in Vancouver. Moving mocap out of the lab and into the field, Vicon's Mobile Mocap system taps several new technologies, many years in the making. At the heart of Mobile Mocap is a very small lipstick-sized camera that enables less obtrusive, more accurate facial animation data. The new cameras capture 720p (1280X720) footage at 60 frames per second. In addition, a powerful processing unit synchronizes, stores, and wirelessly transmits the data, all in a tiny wearable design.
