Postproduction studio Nomad announced the launch of a new visual effects and finishing division to be led by executive producer David Ziek. An industry veteran, formerly from Digital Domain, Ziek has worked on several feature films including Tron and X-Men: First Class, and commercials for brands such as Nike, Microsoft and Mercedes-Benz.

With offices in Los Angeles, New York and London, the studio is equipped to take on projects ranging from simple finishing work to much larger VFX productions. Ziek will be responsible for bringing in projects and overseeing them from bidding through post. On the production side, Ziek will be responsible for streamlining the existing pipeline and leveraging resources from all three offices to increase efficiency. He is also tasked with customizing teams to fit specific projects.

The studio is currently working on projects for Pulse Films, Media Arts Lab, Big Spaceship and Goodby, Silverstein & Partners.

“I’m really excited to be here helping Nomad launch their VFX division,” said Ziek. “One of my favorite things about the company is its scalability. We certainly have the resources to tackle any size job, but at the same time, we’re still a small shop that gives personal attention to each project. All jobs are priority jobs.”

Prior to Nomad, Ziek spent five years as a VFX producer at Digital Domain. From 2005 to 2009, he served as senior vice president at Pangea Pictures.
